About

Julia was born in Halifax Nova Scotia, and spent her early life moving across Canada, Europe and the United States. As part of a military family these experiences provided her with a glimpse of a variety of cultures and lifestyles.

After graduating high school she moved to California eventually returning to Canada and serving in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Medical Corps.

Upon retiring from the CAF she studied fine arts at the University of Windsor and Rockingham College in North Carolina, eventually Julia returned to Canada and resided in Yellowknife Northwest Territories.

After an exhausting seven plus years owning and operating two restaurants, a catering business and a boutique kitchen store Julia heeded the call to come back east.

Julia and her husband headed to Newfoundland and finally back to the shores of Nova Scotia in 2014.  It was her 23rd move! Eventually shaking the cobwebs off her paint and brushes she slowly got back to her artwork.

In 2019 she and her husband built a studio where they reside. The Sand Pebbles Studio now provides the space and privacy to get messy and experiment again with acrylics, oils, wood and anything else she can get her hands on.

“I love to do what I do. My art is not only an expression of my imagination but sometimes just a feeling I put on canvas. To know how my mind works in regards to art is like throwing a white feather into a snowstorm”.
